Poochie Myers

An abundance of bright colors, pleasing shapes, energy and social comment reflect Poochie Myers' viewpoint. Poochie's professional studies in art began at the Dayton Art Institute with Walter Stomps in 1958. From there she studied at the Cincinnati Art Institute with Carl Alex Von Volborth and later took many varied courses from different Universities. Poochie taught art therapy, painting, drawing, needlepoint design as well as organizing a "Zoo Arts Festival" in Cincinnati OH, and a Junior Arts Museum in Huntington, WV. She taught creative knitting across the United States. Her involvement with art includes advertising, marketing, needlepoint design, interior design, beadwork design, knitwear design, contracting reconstruction of apartment buildings and houses, including an old landmark synagogue in the center of Key West, FL. She is the author of Knit Like Crazy, a book about knitting concepts from an artist's view.

Poochie is part owner of Guild Hall Gallery, 614 Duval Street, Key West, FL.

She has exhibited in several group exhibits and one man shows including: Omaha, NE; Key West, FL; Huntington, Charleston, and Morgantown, WV; San Francisco, CA; Paris, France; Geneva, Switzerland and is in private collections all over the United States and Europe.
